Filippo Taidelli’s Interior Design course at Milan Politecnico wants to stimulate action towards the principles of lightness and reversibility. The area of Aquila, devastated by an earthquake in 2009, is taken as a kind of case-study in order to generate reflection and analysis on design strategies. Some propose the response to the needs of the local population, while others utilize the exercise to explore alternative design solutions to those already implemented. Four different themes were identified, with particular attention towards aspects of sustainablity, prefab technology, temporary buildings, and reversible solutions, both for habitative systems and for the services and spaces for meeting, occasion for reflection on the spaces of urban sociability and the proposition of innovative situations.
