The aim of the project is to create a new sports city to hold sportive and cultural events all year long, bringing new dynamic activities to the residential quarter around the Milan’s old fair complex, becoming a new Milan’s urban landmark.
The mixed-use complex acts as a merging point between two different zones from the city: from one side, a traditional dense residential area and from the other, a new zone characterized by its high-rise towers and the “City Life Park”.
The proposal looks forward to optimize the building’s functionality, guarantying its flexibility and to renew its aesthetical representativeness while preserving its original structure; all of this considering with particular attention its energetic efficiency and acoustic isolation quality.
The commercial area, sportive shops and museum are located inside the elliptic volume’s perimeter, while the inner part is consecrate to multifunctional activities like area for concerts and sportive events. The external Piazza protected by the new cantilevered roof is conceived as an internal activities extension area able to function as an open public place for social gathering and open air activities such as: skateboard park, market area, sport’s cages or jogging route.
